FIGHTING TO RESTORE dignity and CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO MILLIONS

NARSOL envisions a society free from public shaming, dehumanizing registries, discrimination, and unconstitutional laws.

Evidence based policies make us safer

Evidence-based policies and programs can reliably reduce new sexual offenses and thus make our communities safer.

No measurable protections

Public registries provide no measurable protection for children or the general public yet endanger the well-being of children and family members of registrants.

Registries violate constitutional rights

Public registration, proximity restrictions, and residency restrictions extended beyond an individual’s sentence are punitive and violate protected constitutional rights.
What is NARSOL?

NARSOL stands for National Association for Rational Sexual Offense Laws. We are a not-for-profit organization made up of volunteers who work together to bring change to the oppressive sexual offense laws in the United States.

Is NARSOL a law firm?

NARSOL is not a law firm. Although many attorneys are involved with us, we focus on addressing sexual offense laws that we believe to be unconstitutional impacting large numbers of people. We cannot assist in individual cases.

Can I volunteer for NARSOL?

NARSOL is made up of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please review the available positions and fill out the volunteer application here.

How is NARSOL funded?

NARSOL relies on the generosity of our supporters. If you would like to become a supporter, please visit this page.

Does NARSOL have a newsletter?

NARSOL has a bi-monthly newsletter called the Digest. It is available in a printed form and an online form. The online version is available to all supporters upon release. If you would like to subscribe to the printed version of the Digest for yourself or a loved one, please visit this page.

Restored voter’s rights in Missouri: not so automatic

By Ronald . . .  Like every other inmate being released at Missouri’s Farmington Correctional Center, I received a voter registration card and instructions on how to restore voting rights as a felon. The instructions said, “The right to vote is automatically restored upon release” unless convicted of a crime...

A cancelled VFW post and a cancelled population

By Sandy . . . Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12226 was opened in the fall of 2023. There were roughly 5,000 such posts in the United States at that time, but this was the first—and so far only--one established inside a prison, the Sterling Correctional Facility, a state...

NARSOL suit filed in Oklahoma over marked driver’s licenses

Litigation seeks to terminate Oklahoma's practice of marking certain driver’s licenses and state identification cards with the prominent label of “SEX OFFENDER.” A lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District of Oklahoma to challenge the state's practice of labeling the driver’s licenses and state identification cards of registered individuals...

the Digest

NARSOL is proud to offer the Digest as the oldest regularly published journal focused on the expansion of public registries in the United States and the individuals who are entangled in it. Started as an online newsletter in 2007, today’s Digest has grown in every way. NARSOL now publishes four editions of the Digest that circulate bi-monthly. The print edition is supported by well over a thousand paid subscribers, many of whom are incarcerated in state and federal prisons for sexually based offenses.
