Correspondence Committee

One of National RSOL’s permanent committees is the Correspondence Committee.  As its name suggests, all of the functions of the CC deal with correspondence and communication.

The Minutemen site is operated and maintained as one function of the CC.

The monthly Digest is published electronically each month by the CC and distributed to approximately 2000 RSOL signatories and supporters. In addition, through our Prison Outreach program, the Digest is mailed to hundreds of prisoners across the country and emailed to federal prisoners who request it through the Corr-Links and Trulinc programs.

Most of the members of the CC as well as some of the more gifted writers among the Minutemen are “on-call” for writing editorials, press releases, letters-to-editors, letters to news media sources and personalities, and letters to politicians when a specific need or situation arises.

The committee also, from time to time, takes on special projects.  One such current project is organizing a campaign to bring to the attention of the major media networks the growing volume of academic literature that has been published in the past ten or so years dealing with sex offender issues based on solid research and factual evidence. The hope is that one or more of the media personalities being contacted will see the merit in inviting one or more of the authors of these books to be on national television or public radio for interviews and discussions about their books. Volunteers from many of our states’ affiliates are aiding the committee in this endeavor, writing emails and writing and mailing letters to the media programs and personalities.

If you have a question or a comment for the committee or would like to suggest a special project, please contact Sandi.
